EPA Reg. 10324-81Q-San
Food-contact quaternary sanitizer, no-rinse, USDA-aligned
Q-San
Q-San is a concentrated quaternary-ammonium sanitizer and deodorizer for use on washable, hard, non-porous food-contact surfaces. Used at labeled dilution, treated surfaces are allowed to drain and air dry with no potable-water rinse required.
The workhorse sanitizer for dishes, glassware, silverware, cooking and eating utensils; plastic and non-porous cutting boards; food-processing equipment (slicers, saws, peelers, conveyors, filling equipment); beverage dispensing equipment, fermentation and holding tanks, ice machines, and refrigerated equipment.
What makes Q-San different
- Food-contact, no-rinse sanitizer. No potable-water rinse required before food production resumes — saves time and water on every shift change.
- Fast 1-minute contact time. Effective at 150, 200, or 400 ppm active quat in as little as one minute.
- Broad food-safety kill list. Effective against E. coli (including O157:H7, O26:H11, O111:H8, O145:H28), Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, MRSA, VRE, Campylobacter jejuni, Yersinia enterocolitica, and Staphylococcus aureus.
- Surface-friendly. Compatible with stainless steel, aluminum, glass, glazed porcelain, plastic — the standard surfaces in food handling.
- Concentrate economy. One ounce sanitizes 4 gallons at 150 ppm — pennies-per-gallon working cost.
Dilution + contact time
- 150 ppm sanitizer: 1 oz per 4 gallons of water — 1 minute wet time
- 200 ppm sanitizer: 1.36 oz per 4 gallons — 1 minute wet time
- 400 ppm sanitizer: 2.67 oz per 4 gallons — 1 minute wet time
- Water quality: Effective in water up to 500 ppm hardness with 5% soil
Use directions
- Remove gross food particles by pre-flushing, pre-scraping, and pre-soaking as needed.

- Rinse thoroughly with potable water.
- Immerse or wet the surface with Q-San use solution.
- Keep surface wet for at least 1 minute.
- Allow to drain and air dry — do not rinse.
Prepare fresh solution daily or when visibly dirty.
What it isn't for
