Aluminum Cleaner
Inhibited acid brightener for aluminum truck trailers
Aluminum Cleaner
Daco Aluminum Cleaner is an industrial-strength inhibited acid brightener built for aluminum truck trailers and other heavily oxidized aluminum surfaces. Hydrofluoric acid removes the gray-white oxide layer standard cleaners leave behind, while corrosion inhibitors slow base-metal loss and wetting agents head off streaks and water spots.
What makes it different
- Inhibited acid blend. Hydrofluoric plus secondary acids cut oxide more evenly, with less etching of base aluminum than uninhibited brighteners.
- Wetting-agent system. Engineered to sheet rinse so cleaned panels dry without the streaks and water spots other brighteners leave.
- Wide dilution range. 1:4 for heavy oxidation, 1:10 for routine maintenance — same drum covers both monthly washes and bring-back jobs.
- Designed for the truck industry. Won’t harm typical truck glass, painted, plastic, or rubber components when used as directed.
What it isn’t for
Not for anodized aluminum (strips the anodizing) or aircraft. Not a pre-cleaner — remove mud, diesel exhaust, and oil first with AMF-77 or SF-77. Not for prolonged dwell on glass, paint, or concrete (etches if allowed to dry).
Packaging
Sold as 1-gallon plastic jugs (singles or case of 4), 5-gallon pails, and 55-gallon plastic drums. All packaging is recyclable.
What it isn't
Not for anodized aluminum, aircraft, or untrained operators. Not a degreaser — pre-clean grime first. Not for prolonged dwell on glass, paint, or concrete.
Surface compatibility
Tested at label concentration on common facility surfaces. For uncommon substrates, request a compatibility test from your Damon rep.

Application directions
Step-by-step instructions. Read all steps and any caution-flagged steps in full before starting.
-
1
Suit up first
Wear rubber gloves, suit or apron, boots, eye protection, and a respirator when spraying. Confirm a shower/eyewash is within 10 seconds of the use area. The concentrate is highly corrosive.
-
2
Pre-clean the truck
Wash off mud, diesel exhaust, oil, and road grime with AMF-77 or SF-77 first. Aluminum Cleaner brightens — it doesn't degrease.
-
3
Dilute and apply bottom-up
Dilute 1:4 for heavy oxidation, 1:10 for light or maintenance work. Apply with mop, brush, or sprayer starting at the bottom and working up to avoid etched streaks. Clean a full panel at once so overlap doesn't show.
-
4
Hold 3-5 minutes
Let the acid work 3-5 minutes max. Don't let it dry — over-sprayed glass or paint should be rinsed right away.
-
5
Rinse top to bottom
Rinse thoroughly top to bottom with a high-volume water spray. On concrete, flush plenty of water to the drain to extend pad life.
